Folder Properties

Hello

I am using Windows XP Professional.

When I open a Folder (e.g., C:\Documents and
Settings\tony\My Reports), I normally set "View"
to "Details", i.e., the Folder will show: "Name", "Date
Modified", "Size", "Type", etc.

Normally, when I close the Folder and open it again, the
Folder Properties are remembered (i.e., "Name", "Date
Modified", etc., will be displayed in the same order, and
in the same column width).

However, sometimes, the Folder Properties are lost.

(I am suspecting that Windows XP can only remeber a
certain number of Folders' Folder Properties.)

Could someone tell me how to make the computer remeber
the Folder Properties for every Folder please?

Thanks.

Tony

Hello,
By default windows only stores 4000 folder settings

Only 400; put up to 4000 by SP2. At that level Kelly's further increase
should not be needed

I believe the BagMRU Size default value for SP2 is 5000, not 4000.

You would think that with all that they put into XP Microsoft should have
developed by now the code that would show the folder size without going to
the properties or hovering the mouse over the folder. HINT

Tony:

By default, Windows is designed to remember 400 different folder settings
(200 local folders and 200 network folders, for a total of 400 folders).
Windows will start to re-use these stored settings on a 'Most Recently Used'
basis, once the folder limit has been exceeded. You can change this to 8000
by adding this edit to the registry.

Run this edit, then reset your preferred folder options:

Increase Folder View Options Limit: (Line 2)

To use the Regedit: Save the REG File to your hard disk. Double click it
and answer yes to the import prompt. REG files can be viewed in Notepad by
right clicking on the file and selecting Edit.
