Folder background?

Can someone please tell me if there's a way of changing the background of
a folder (i.e. adding a picture or whatever) in Windows xp? (At work there're
just installing Win xp so am getting the hang of it.)

At home I have Win 95. I can click "View" then "Customize the folder" and
"Choose a background picture" etc to select a background pic for that folder.

Is it the same in XP? Thank you very much for any help, it's appreciated!

I'm not sure you can do it easily in WinXP. This was discussed here (very
long URL will wrap and need repair).

However there are some third party programs (if you trust them) that add
this feature. One example is "Explorer bar XP" according to this page...

Not used it myself so can't say if it's any good.

Thank you very much for that link! I've just saved the webpage and will
be interested to read what others had to say about this topic.

I appreciate you going to the trouble of finding this program. I must confess
that I'm a bit leery about downloading and installing a program I know nothing
about just to do something like a cosmetic change. I liked the feature of
putting a background pic to liven up folders I'm constantly using, but I'd
rather not mess around with a program I'm unsure of, if you understand...

Thanks again for the links and information!
