weird keyboard problem

Out of curiosity, has anyone heard of a problem like this?

Friend I ran into today mentioned how her keyboard would type numbers and
most letters except for vowels like a,e,i, etc. I haven't seen keyboard
yet, but I suggested she find and plug in a spare keyboard to see if it's
a physical problem with her original keyboard.

I was wondering if there was something in windows XP which might somehow
be causing this problem? It's such an unusual question (something I've never
encountered before) and would be interested in other thoughts on this.

Thanks very much....
James

It would be worth running a full check for viruses and trojans etc. There
have been viruses and "joke" programs that prevent you typing vowels. I
could only find these references on the web and they relates to a virus on
MAC computers....

Thank you very much for the links! I'll email them to my friend so she can
check it out it on her computer...
