Flight Simulator 2000 and Windowsxp

Hank

I bought Microsoft's Flight Simulator 2000 sometime ago. I thought I
had used it with my new DELL running WindowsXP SP3 with latest
updates. It was sometime ago that I used it. Today I tried to run it
and I would get the opening screen asking to verify the CD is in drive
then drops out. I tried uninstalling it and re-installing it with
same results. When I look at Microsoft games in program list I note it
is not listed as an installed program but it is in the C:\programs
folder. Does it not work under Windowsxp or is it something else like
directx is wrong version?
email response not expected but to respond remove .uk at end
TIA
Hank
