Flashing mouse cursor

I have recently developed a flashing CD disc symbol by my mouse cursor. I
guess it indicated access to a drive. I can not seem to get this to go away.
I've tried to adjust virtual memory down, even to off. While this is flashing
I do not have a light coming on for the HD or the CD. If anyone has an ideal
on how to turn this off or at least what is the cause of it I would bve
grateful. I am running Win XP Home on a Power Spec computer. I have two HD
installed and also dual DVD drives (one read only the other RW)
Regards,

Click Start, Settings, Control Panel, Mouse, "Pointers" tab. Under "Scheme", use the spin box to
select "Windows Default". If it's already selected, select another just so the "Apply" box
activates then pick "Windows Default" again, click Apply, OK A reboot wouldn't hurt either.
See if that fixes it.

I have just started having this exact same problem. It also seems that my
system takes forever to restart, and it remains noticably slower after start.
Neither of my CD drives run...I get the "Wrong disk inserted" box.
Any help is most appreciated.
