mouse cursor malfunctioning

hello. there is something wrong with my mouse cursor.

on my tablet pc sometimes the cursor on the screen moves to the top right or
the bottom right corner by itself. when i move the cursor away from the
corners it moves to the direction i move the mouse, then after an instant it
moves right back to the corner. and apparently the mouse is 'clicking' as it
gets rid of short-cut menus.

this problem isn't always there but if it does it is very very annoying.

i have tried plugging in a USB mouse and disabling the built-in touch pad,
no luck; i have tried using my tablet pen to move the cursor, no luck either.

any suggestions on why this happens?

thanks!

I have having precisely the same issue, and as in your case, the tablet icon
appears briefly (usually) before the cursor randomly jumps to and opens the
Start menu. My company's IT department suspected that there was some sort of
hardware issue, but given that you are having a similar problem that seems to
have surfaced at around the same time as mine (late September early October
as well), I suspect a software problem. Do you recall installing any new
software around that time? The only change I think I made at that time was
installing a new version of Messenger.
