Flash or not problems...

Hi everyone,

A have a new computer with Windows XP Professional SP2 (with all available
updates), Internet Explorer 7 and all the spyware protections from Microsoft
and latest McAfee Antivirus Software correctly configured. This machine works
with AutoCAD LT and is very fast with all the other software like Microsoft
Office 2003 Professional.

Everything was working fine for weeks until a couple days ago. Suddenly and
out of the blue, any page with flash animations do not work in Internet
Explorer 7 and all the software for my HP Scanjet 4850 fails to work normally
(has several menus with Flash animations).

This is very annoying because my home page (www.veraiachia.com) has all the
programming in flash technology and i can't see anything of it.

I already uninstalled flash accordingly to Adobe and reinstalled it, but
nothing changes. Do i need to format my computer again?

Please help.

download the uninstaller from adobe, and download the "install_flash_player_active_x.exe", not install from adobe.
run the uninstaller, then install the EXE.

Format (and the implied re-install of Windows and all Application software)
due to a problem with Adobe Flash is akin to buying a new car because you
have acquired a flat tire.

The people who frequent Windows XP newsgroups are very knowledgeable about
Windows XP, not Adobe Flash.
For assistance with resolving a problem with Adobe Flash, I suggest you
check the Adobe Flash FAQ page, or post to an Adobe Flash forum, or contact
Adobe technical support.

It sounds like spyware and/or a virus and I would start here. Not all
antispyware is 100% effective and Microsoft's included features definitely
do not afford the needed protection. There are free online spyware scans
you can take advantage of as well as free virus scans. You can google for
them but I suggest using Webroot's @ http://www.webroot.com/ (scroll down to
where it says "start spyware scan now.") A good free online virus scan can
be found at TrendMicro http://housecall.trendmicro.com/ but there are others
also. Probably a good idea to install added protection like Webroot's
"SpySweeper." You should also do periodic maintenance like defragging the
hard drive and running disc clean, both of which can be done automatically
and more efficiently then if using included Microsoft utilities thru
products like "Perfectdisk" and "Window Washer."
