Fixing NetBIOS name for setup

I am trying to re-install Windows XP. During the install, I get an error
saying that the install can't continue because my PC has a NetBIOS name that
contains an underscore (which never caused my PC a problem). However, the
install won't continue unless I fix this. However, because I can't get into
Windows, I don't know how to change this setting. Is there a file somewhere
I can edit that includes this name?

You can load the system hive on another machine and edit the computer name
at
HKLM\SYSTEM\CS001\Control\ComputerName,
HKLM\SYSTEM\CS001\Services\Tcpip\Parameters and other incursions.
You can edit registry on the same machine if you have either ERD Commander,
Windows PE, or Bart PE.
