Netbios names with IP

MC

Hi,
We have windows 2000 Active Directory domain with DNS, WINS, and DHCP
enabled.
When I do nslookup for an IP address, I get the netbios name of different
computer

Under DNS server, domain properties Zone Aging is set as follows
- Scavenge stale resource record, no refresh interval =2 days
- Refresh interval interval = 7days

What would be the proper setting, so that computer netbios name matches
actual IP address that is assigned by DHCP,
yet workstations should not have problem with domain

Thanks
MC

the setting that plays the role here is the refresh interval (after only
this amout of time passes, DNS records can be scavenged). However, in my
opinion, rather than risking removal of valid records, you should
investigate why your existing computers do not register properly with DNS
server (which would address the problem you described in the original
post)...

Sounds like you have reverse name polution. Go into your reverse tables and
check to see if you have multiple names for this ip address.
