I am trying to make a recovery cd for my windows xp home version. I went to
system tools, back up, advanced, selected the location for the backup file
but then got a message that says "files for recovery diskette could not be
created. The operations was aborted." Now what do i do? I just want some
backup of the windoes xp operating files incase my haddrive fails and I have
to install a new harddrive. I have only the xp upgrade cd and not the full
version so if it fails now i am out of luck. Any suggestions?

XP's built-in backup software can not create a full backup that can
restore a working XP to a hard drive. Look of different softwares.

XP has no built in ability to create a recovery CD, you need to look into
some drive imaging software such as that from Acronis.
