File selection problem

When I click either on a file in windows explorer or an icon on my
desktop instead of just highlighting the file it opens the name up in
rename mode, Does anyone know what i can do to correct this please.
 
Click the picture not the name. A click on a selected name renames.

But its not like that on my other system and its very annoying as when
you move the pointer over the words on the startmenu it does this
without a click
