File name length problems with W2k servers

We have a 200 computer network with all W2K servers and about 50 Macs
connecting to various shares on the network. The Macs seems to run
into constant problems with the Mac filename being too long to place
on the Windows network. I am unable to find a clear and concise
article that lays out the limitations. Anyone able to add anything?

Windows Servers 2000 and 2003 use the AFP 2.2 file sharing protocol for
Macs. AFP 2.x is limited to 31 characters for a file name.

AFP 3.x, found in third party products such as ExtremeZ-IP allow you to
over-ride this limitation.

Or if your Mac OS X clients connect using SMB (smb://ipaddress) instead
of AFP (afp://ipadress) then this limit doesn't apply.

Hope this helps! bill
