File Download

When I click on a link to a .doc file I do not get the "File Download"
dialogue box.
It used to ask me if I want to open the file from its current location, or
save it to disk.
But now the box does not appear, and clicking the link always opens the file
from its current location.

Anyone know how I can get this dialogue box back?

You set this for each file type, e.g. for .zip
Explorer-View-Folder Options-File Types
Find the .zip association (may be WinZip File)
Edit, (or click Advanced on ME or XP) and check the "Confirm open
after download" box

The path to Folder Options may vary according to your operating
system. It may be:
Explorer-View-Folder Options
Explorer-Tools-Folder Options
Start-Settings-Folder Options
Start-Settings-Control Panel-Folder options.

Early? I answered that just before midnight last night.

Ah! I see.
It was just before dawn here in L.A. California.

By the way, is there any way to set all the extensions to that same setting?
(And is that necessarily a desirable thing to do?)

I don't know of any way to set them all and some you cannot set.
I don't see it as necessarily desirable.
For most people, it is only the odd one that needs to be set (often
..zip)
