I'm trying to reformat an old machine. When trying to delete and reset partitons with fdisk I get "could not change partitions , because the disk could not be locked" I first thought it was a jumper issue but I can't remember if I need 1 or 2 jumpers or LFT RGT sequnce.Any help?

What is the hard drive?

It should not matter what the "jumpers" are set too, epecially on an older HD

There are several forms of FDISK ... have you tried The Ultimate Boot CD

A Win XP CD will do the job for you, just don't finish installing the OS if it not your intention.
