Faxing and digital phone

I have read that you may need a DSL filter to use your fax but what about the
computer - I wish to fax thru my computer - I hooked up a DSL filter and
still cannot receive - I can generally send but rarely receive and the DSL
filter did not help. Is this because of my modem or is there something else
I can do. I borrowed a regular fax machine and it worked fine. Please
advise. thanks

Check with your ISP (Internet Service Provider) for a special filter used
to send and receive Faxes. The filter you now have is mainly for the
use of your phone and to also connect at DSL high speed. If you already
have that, then your setup is not correct to receive.

You need the filter to be able to use the voice side of an adsl line.
This same line should be plugged into your fax modem and not the dsl
modem or router.

You need a splitter for the phone line. One side will go to the]
dsl hardware. The other split should have the filter installed on it.
You can then run it directly to your fax modem or thru a phone to the
fax modem. However you have you fax/phone line set up.
