fax problems with DSL

I am having trouble receiving faxes with my Windows Fax Console. I have used
a phone line splitter and and a DSL filter. The fax modem will answer the
call and sometimes receive the fax, part of the fax or none of the fax even
after repeated attempts by the sender. It seems to lose the connection.
Sometimes I am told by the sender that their fax machine reported an "error
in the handshake" with my fax
Any advice would be appreciated

Windows XP Fax barely works with the analog fax modems and lines. I wouldn't
hold out much hope.

I am have trouble sending a fax with with windows xp. I get a message that
states plug in phone line to modem, it is plugged in. I dont know what I am
doing wrong. Anybody hve any ideas?

We wouldn't either until you tell us what you are doing.
Verify that you are using an analog fax modem from the Windows XP HCL list
and an analog phone line.
