fax sending

I have the same problems, although they may not have the
same cause. Seeing as how the serious lack of background
information elicited nothing but a snotty remark, this is
what I can tell you.

This is XP on a Gateway box, connected to an Epson CX5400
printer, that does NOT have faxing capabilities.

When I click on File, then Send to Fax Recipient, I get
the Wizard as per normal. When I complete the cover
letter and click on Send Fax Now, it will tell me that
the message has been sent, but no one ever sees it again,
and the Fax Console shows no faxes sent. This is with the
default printer set at both the Epson and the Fax icon.

I should mention, I'm running a DSL modem, so I probably
won't hear the transmission anyway, right?

You must have been unaware that faxing uses phone lines. You must have an
analog phone line hooked to an analog fax modem to fax.

Russ thanks for the reply my problem is more or less the same Fax wizard all set up fax consul accepts to send message fax but then comes up with no dial tone phone in use ordisconnected By the way no DSL anbody out there with plain english answer would be appreciated

So you have a "normal" analog fax modem, and it seems to be reporting that
the phone line is not connected.
Is the phone line connected? and to the correct jack on the back of the
modem? (if there is more than one jack)
Have you tried turning on the modem logging feature and looking at the log
file?
Is the modem on the XP compatable list?
How is the modem identified as to model and capability?
Have you looked at the .inf file for your modem? or perhaps the one that is
actually used?
Does the modem work when making a normal data connection?
Can you use a terminal program such as hyperterm to "talk to" the modem and
get valid replies to various commands?
