Fax program that works

The fax that comes with WinXP is junk. [E.g., it states there is no dial
tone, and then I check - and there IS a dial tone.] Is there a fax program
that works? If so, what is it?

Thank you,

The Fax program that comes with XP works fine - there must be a
problem with your modem, modem driver, or phone line. If you are
using broadband you need a line filter

Line filter or In-Line Splitter enables you to have one Phone, Fax or
FaxModem device per splitter operating simultaneously on the same
phone service as your broadband ADSL connection. The In-Line splitter
simply into an unused phone jack, and your Phone,Fax, or fax modem
plugs directly into it. If your ADSL modem needs to connect through
the same phone jack, it should also be connected directly into the
In-Line Splitter.

Thank you again.

I probably had one in my former apartment, but I was forced to move
recently.
