Favorites Folder Collapses between Sessions

Using IE 6 Sp2 my Favorite Folders pane collapses between sessions.

I start the session with one folder "ABC Favorites" visable... during
an online session I open many folders/subfolders.... close and restart
IE and I'm back to my one opening folder "ABC Favorites".

What do I need to do to have my favorites remain in the Favorites
Folder list when I close and reopen IE6.

TIA

That is normal behavior for IE. The Favorites explorer bar is loaded with
each new instance of IE.

What you can do instead is add Favorites to your task bar or to your Start
Menu.

To Add Favorites to your task bar

1. Right click on the task bar to display the dropdown menu.
2. Select Toolbars>New Toolbar to display a Folder selection dialog
3. Navigate to and select your Favorites folder. Usually the favorites
folder can be found in C:\Documents and Settings\'Your User Name'\Favorites
4. Choose Ok. The Favorites folder should now appear in your task bar.

To Add Favorites to your start menu (depends on what version of Windows you
have)

1. Right click on the task bar to display the dropdown menu.
2. Select Properties, then choose the Advanced tab. On the bottom of the
Advanced tab you will see a listbox with 'Start Menu Settings'
3. Check the option to 'Display Favorites' in the Start menu settings list.
4. Choose Ok.

Both these methods do not persist with your last selection from your
favorites list but they are a quick shortcut to displaying them.

You can also open your Favorites in a Shell Window ( In a File Explorer
instead of Internet Explorer)
1. Start your Windows Explorer
2. Navigate to your Favorites folder. Usually the favorites folder can be
found in C:\Documents and Settings\'Your User Name'\Favorites

OR

Heres a trick. Type shell:Favorites in your Address bar. This will open up a
windows explorer window at your Favorites folder.
