Favorite's Folders Problem

After an XP Home re-installation my IE6 favorite's directory tree will
not retain the "last view" open folders view between shut down and
startup.

Starting IE6 the directory tree in the left hand window pane always
begins with two folders.... Links and XXX Favorites. I then need to
click through the sub folders to get to the view I had at the last
session.

Any help please.
