Fatal Error Windows Login

Can anyone help... I cannot boot up in either regular or safe mode. I get
error "Stop: c000021a Fatal System Error" The windows logon process system
process terminated. The system has been shut down.
I have a Sony laptop with only the XP Recovery Utility by hitting F10, but I
don't want to loose my data if possible. That restores to original config.
Any help please.
