F11 will not reinstall XP Home

When I start-up my computer the F!! message does not
appear. When I press F11 for complete reinstallation
nothing happens. I have also lost the use of the
ThinkPad key on my R30 Thinkpad. I reinstalled
everything during this last virus outbreak before I new
it was a virus. How can I recoup these lost functions?
 
Bob, if you have a ThinkPad I think that's IBM. Go to their site for some
