Service Pack 3 for XP

Few weeks ago I lost everything and still piecing my system back
together (backdoor tidserve virus) have reinstalled or tried to
anyway...Need SP3 and wondering if its ok to get it off the MSN
Updates site...Actually I thought I had it reinstalled ~ when I look
at my programs it shows up but also shows its not taking up "any
space"...All of the programs show how much space but this one doesn't
so I guess I need it installed again, it didn't take I guess...Best
way to do it is much appreciated...A bit worried about disabling my
firewall to download it esp after getting wiped out recently...Thanks

SP3 doesn't show any size on my computer either. If you want to know if
it's there, right-click on "My computer" and select "Properties".

Right.

Not only that if you have automatic updates enabled and yo're online,
within a few days SP3 will show up wihout your doing anything. So
will SP2, I think, and so would 1 if it were somehow required (though
it isn't). I wonder when this automatic thing started, given all the
effort I went through years ago to install SP2 and SP3. ??

Do you have SP1 installed? To install SP3 the prerequisite is that you need SP1
installed first. After you can go directly with SP3 skipping SP2 since it is
included with SP3
