external dsl w/USB

So I was going to stores looking for some kind of CAT 5
cable that has a usb plug on one end and a RJ45 on the
other so i can hook up my XBOX to my external DSL usb
modem. And some kind of expert informs me you can't
network usb modems.. Is that right? EXACTLY what type of
hardware would I need to make it work?
