"Explorer Has Stopped Working" when trying to launch a Slideshow

G

Guest

When I attempt to start a Slideshow of photos using the Explorer toolbar, the
first picture launches and then, after about two seconds, closes with the
message "Explorer has stopped working".
I then get the usual series of messages that "Windows is looking for a
solution to the problem" etc, but no answer is found.

I get the same if I go through Microsoft Office Picture Manager.

Problem reports below:

I am using 32 bit Windows Home Premium on a Novatech PC with an Intel
3.00GHz dual core processor and 2Gb RAM and 320Gb hard drive.
NVIDIA GeForce 7300 LE graphics card.

I have turned off UAC and DEP, but still the problems occur.
Any ideas? Program conflicts? (Nero, iTunes are both installed)

Please help !!

Thanks.
I moved the 3 small .avi files that were included (the whole folder came
from my digital camera) to another location and then the Slideshow woked fine.
It's a shame that Microsoft don't document this problem anywhere; I have
wasted almost an entire day trying to get this to work.
Again, many many thanks.

I read the previous posts and I am having a similar problem. I downloaded a
full memory card of pictures and a few .avi videos into my pictures, along
with a bunch of photos & video clips from cds. It worked well for a few days
and now everytime I go to the start menu and click this pictures link to the
folder I get this message:

Description:
A problem caused this program to stop interacting with Windows.

My pictures will not load at all in that screen. I can get complete acess to
the folder thru control panel and I deleted a lot of images and moved the
files into the video folder. It's still not working. I also cannot get my
torrent .avi files to play with Real installed and a good codec pack. could
this be related? Hopefully you can help mee! Thanks!

Oh...I'm using a brand new HP dv9500 with Windows Vista and I'm not very
computer savy.

Uninstall the codec pack. Codec packs are evil.

I have completely unistalled everything with the codec pack and went through
the registry to make sure that it was gone. I am still getting the same error
message when i try to use the pictures link for the folder. Any other ideas?

Thanks--deb

This might provide useful information:

Go to Control Panel (Classic view) > Problem Reports and Solutions.
In the left hand pane of Problem Reports and Solutions, click the "View problem
history" link. Right click on the problem and select "View problem details".
In the bottom left corner of the screen, press the "Copy to clipboard" link.
Paste in a reply to this thread.

Here is the information for the problem detail from the control panel like
you requested. I also found another problem error which occured around the
same time and date. Thought both might be helpful! Thanks again!

....The Windows Modules Installer crash that I sent you only happened twice,
Nov. 15th and Nov. 17th. I sent you that one beause I noticed it happened on
the same day the the other started. I also thought of this today as well, I
installed Safari web browser (which is an Apple product mainly for Macs) and
my computer does apple updates routinely. Could using that type of product
have anything to do with this or any updates that have been installed? Please
let me know if you need any other info about my computer! Thanks

The pictures link to your pictures folder, OK. Do the music and the videos
folders still work?

That information unfortunately doesn't lead to anything. It might be
somewhat more helpful to look at a crash dump file generated through the
Windows Debugging Toolkit, but that's probably way way over the top here -
at that point you're probably better off contacting actual support. =)

deb

the documents, music, and videos all still work great. Windows debugging
toolkit. Sounds complicated. Do I even have that? Actual support it is!
Thanks so much for trying!!!

Deb :)

Having what sounds like the same problem. Trying to open a folder with

Siince yours is an AppHang and his is an AppCrash, that means that rest of
your information is also different - what is the rest of the information for
your hang?
