Explorer.exe 100% CPU usage

When I start Windows Medial player 9 and then close it, my
system runs very slow. I am unable to browse my drives
(The torch comes up and keeps searching), when I check
task manager, ecplorer.exe is using 100% CPU. This problem
only occurs after running media player.
I have installed Service pack one and other critical
updates but the problem is still there. Any ideas?
