Explorer doesn't display images

Explore doesn't show images - banner ads - or as an
example at www.apple.com/quicktime, the "Now Playing"
area of the screen is blank. I don't have personal
firewall running or ad blocker running. Another example
is after a search at google - the sponsored links in the
right hand side of the window aren't active. What give?
This appears to have just recently changed...

Hi. In IE, try clicking on Tools/Internet
Options/Advanced. Maybe something in here was changed,
or try resetting to defaults. If unsure, not which boxes
are checked before restoring defaults, so that way you
can change them back to the way they are now.

I've tried resetting to default in the advanced options, as well as changing the security level to low - still luck a the google site or apple's movie trailer page..
