Explorer crashes when I open a folder - HELP!!!!

SECOND POST - UPDATE ON PROBLEM (now tried Safe Mode)

Hi

I have a serious problem with Explorer XP (SP2).

It is an intermittent problem;

Most times when I try to open a folder explorer crashes.

It returns a Runtime Error (there is no error number)
but it's a C++ error.

If I try this in Safe Mode - it works fine.

Sometimes when it crashes it comes back that XP has
protected itself via DEP.

I have checked at MS - and via msconfig - disabled
all start up options.

But this hasn't helped.

I've run;

Spybot
Ad -Aware
Windows Defender
Norton WinDoc
Avast

I also have Spyware Blaster running.

The problem remains.

I've looked on Google - but no one seems to give
a definite answer to this very annoying problem.

Any help or suggestions would be most welcome.

Thank you in advance - regards, Stephen

or file. I have uninstalled all Java peogrammes - No good.

On searching the Net I found that this is often associated with Google
Desktop.

I edit the registry removing all entries associated with GD and Google
toolbar - No good.

I have tried reinstalling GD and GT and then removing them incase it
was a partial install problem - No Good.

Any thoughts
