can someone assist me with this.
I am getting an error message stating "MSN unable to find
proper dial-up crdentials on your computer"
My ISP and browser was working fine earlier. I had
installed SBC DSL, I 've made connection fine, I am not
able to use Explorer or SBC as a browser?
Any help would be appreciated.
thanks

your posts, and only one other show in groups search.

here's excerpts of other thread.

My modem is working correctly. When I tried to sign in I
get error message "MSN unable to find proper dial-up
credentials on your computer" I found the message in
support.microsoft.com #302974 and 302978 and followed
those instructions. Called MSN and they gave me same
instructions (they walked me through until dial-up because
I have one phone line.) When attempting dial-up, my modem
dials number and makes noises as usual but can't get
through and keeps "retrying", 2 attempt, 3 attempt and so
on.

Since you upgraded from ME, the first thing I would do is see if there are
updated drivers for your modem. Check the modem manufacturers website

On your desktop, do a right-click on the icon named My-Computer and from the
menu that appears left-click on properties. Select the "Hardware" tab at the
top and then near the middle right, select "Device Manager" You will see a
yellow telephone icon called Modem, if you are using a dial up connection to
the internet. Double click on that and it will expand down to show you the
installed device. Is it there ? You should see the name of your modem device
in here. Right click on the modem name and select properties. In here you
will see the settings for your modem and whether or not it is enabled.

Still not working ? ....

Left-click on start button (bottom left corner) select settings, then
control panel. Left-click on network and internet connections, and then
internet options. Left-click on the Connections tab at the top and then
click on "Setup" button near the top of the page, this will take you through
instructions to connect to the internet using your modem device. You'll need
your modem connection information handy, ie what telephone number to connect
to your internet provider service, your username and password information to
access your mailbox etc.

(a different problem is posted:)
I installed Spywarenuker program. After installation, my
Satellite internet or dial up internet connection won't
connect. I noticed this as it was trying to connect:
"res://c:\windows\system32\shdoclc.dll/dnserror.htm"
Spywarenuker says to reload windows as that there are
data mining programs out there that go as far as changing
the WinSock Internet communications connection during
their installation. When the data mining components of
these programs are removed it sometimes leaves the
computer unable to connect with the Internet. Their LSP
WinSock 2 Repair utility did not fix the problem. They
suggested reloading the operating system and I did, but
it did not correct this problem. Can anyone help me?

((reply to the immed prev post:))
Talk with you ISP provider and get the required information to connect to
the internet. Can you type a known IP address 63.211.236.233 and get out?
If so need to get the IP address of your ISP providers DNS service.

A few of my clients have satellite Internet access (DirecPC) and they
require a proxy to be set up. It sounds like the Spywarenuker may have
changed the proxy settings.
