experiencing repeat incoming emails

Upon signing on today, I found that previously read messages keep repeating
themselves, even after deleting and permanently deleting. Of 1,000 messages,
after I get to about 300, "receive" shuts down, then starts all over again
with message 1 of 1,000. Any ideas? Outlook 2000

try to delete these message from the server!
