Deleting messages easily form Delete Folder

I am using OE6 in a W98 pc. I have about 2000 messages in my Delete Folder
arranged by date received. Is that volume significantly slowing down my
system or otherwise causing trouble?

Of the 2000 messages, some 1700 are unread (that is they are just pure junk
and spam and could safely be permanently discarded) but the other 300 might
still be needed in the future. Is there a simple way – other than combing
through all 2000 (with interspersed read and unread messages) to permanently
delete all the unread messages?

Thanks.

This newsgroup is for support of Outlook
97/98/2000/2002/2003/2007 from the Office suite of products. Outlook
Express is actually a separate program despite the similar name.

For help with your OE questions, try an OE newsgroup such as
microsoft.public.outlookexpress.general (for OE 6), or
an OE help website such as http://insideOE.tomsterdam.com. If you're
accessing the Microsoft newsgroups through the MS Product Support
Services "Community Newsgroups" web interface, click
http://www.microsoft.com/communitie...px?dg=microsoft.public.outlookexpress.general
Good luck!
