Problem with Outlook Delete Folder

Since I got my new computer, when I delete a message from my inbox or other
Outlook folder, it is permanently deleted; it only goes into the Delete
folder if it is unread. When I open it, it disappears.

I’ve checked as many email options as I can and I can’t figure out why this
is happening. (For example, the “Empty Delete Folder on Exit box is not
checked).

Glad you solved your problem. Perhaps you can help me out. I need to purge
my inbox of deleted items but my Edit menu pull down does not have a "Purge
Deleted Messages" option. Any other methods of purging that you know of?
