Empty the Deleted Items folder upon exiting

Although I have the setting “Empty the Deleted Items folder upon exitingâ€
enabled (Tools, Options, Other, General), Outlook 2003 on Windows XP
Professional does not automatically remove items from the Deleted Items
folders upon exiting. I’m also using the “Outlook Connector for MSN,†as
well as Norton AntiSpam 2005.

Any recommendations on how to force Outlook to empty the Deleted Items
folders?

Thank you for your assistance.

Diane, I have verified that Outlook 2003 is indeed closing. Nonetheless, the
Deleted Items remain present.

I am using the "Outlook Connector for MSN" with Windows XP Professional on a
DSL connection (as well as Norton AntiSpam 2005). Could that possible be a
consideration?

Thank you for your assistance.

is outlook closing? look in task manager or get
http://www.sunflowerhead.com/software/knockout and an icon in the tray will
show you if it closed.

Is the connector's pst set as your default data store (or the only data
store)? Hotmail typically empties deleted items every few days automatically
and it may not sync properly when you do it client side at close.
