Expanding Array using diskpart.exe

Carlos M. Perez

I would like to know if anyone has used this and with what success. Also,
can it be done on a live system? I have a user that is running out of space
very quickly and we need to get the extra disk in with minimal downtime.
They have an IBM server with a ServeRAID 4Mx card and 4 36GB drives.

Thanks,

Carlosmp.

I've never done it on a live machine. Adding a disk as a member of the
RAID5, use diskpart.exe.

Daniel,

The disks right now are Basic disks...all articles seems to reference only
when the disks are dynamic (since birth). Is the only limitation of the
Basic is that the free space must exist after the volume that is going to be
expanded?

Thanks,

Carlos.

It's not your system or boot partition, is it?
