Diskpart.exe

I installed a new hard drive in a RAID 5 Array in a IBM Xseries 345 Server.
I am running Windows 2000 SP4 all updates since end of March. The disk
manager sees the unallocated space. When I use Diskpart.exe to add the
unallocated space to my data volume I get the error message "diskpart failed
to extend the volume"

The volume shows the space has been but the file system still has the old
value for the volume space. I did some research and heard of a utility
called fsextend which is supposed to fix this problem.

By the way I did use the diskpart.exe utility successfully before on this
very same server.

Any help is appreciated.

did you try
DISKPART> extend filesystem

the "extend filesystem" is a undocumented function
If this command does not fix it, then open a case with Microsoft and get
fsextend, I do not think this tool is publicly available.

Edwin.

Thank you for the idea. Actually about an hour ago I found out what the
cause was. The IBM RAID Manager software was the cause. I was having some
issues with the server and disabled the IBM Raid manager service and it
worked after that.

Although I will remember your idea since I do use Diskpart.exe quite
frequently.
