Exception to restore

When I try to run system restore in WinXP Pro a popup says: An exception
occurred while trying to run C:\WINNT\system32\shell32.dll, Control_RunDLL
"C\WINNT\system32\sysdm.cpl", System".

Thus, system restore will not run. How can I fix system restore? Thanks

Hi,

Click start/run, type "control sysdm.cpl" (without the quotes) and click ok.
Does this produce an error or does the System applet open? If it produces an
error, then I would guess that the file is damaged. Try copying the one from
C:\Windows\system32\dllcache to the C:\Windows\system32 folder (overwrite if
prompted).

Thank you. Bert Kinney's System Restore pages were very helpful. I solved
the problem by reinstalling system restore as the pages advised. Your help
was invaluable. Thanks again
