System restore problem in control panel....

Guest

If I go into the control panel and open "System" and then click on the the
"System Restore" tab I get the following message.....

<An exception occured while trying to run "C:\WINNT\system32\shell32.dll,
control_run.dll>
<"C:\WINNT\system32\sysdm.cpl",system"
Is there a fix for this problem?

Hey Charles, I never can get it to work either. You can go to "my computer,"
right click on the drive and hit properties. Then, click on programs and see
if there was something downloaded on the computer without your knowledge and
if there is, you can delete it. I just did this and now it works fine. Good
luck, bro.

not supposed to be there.

Hi Kelly,

It brings up the "System Properties" panel. And I get the same message as
before when I click on the system restore tab.

Kelly,
That fix did not work. As before I still get the same message as before. I
wonder if I do a repair install of Win Xp if that will work?

Hi,

Start - Run and paste the following command, then press Enter.

%systemroot%\system32\restore\rstrui.exe

Does System Restore open?

Bert,
When I paste and run that command I get the following......

Error Signature...
AppName: rstrui.exe AppVer: 5.1.2600.2180 ModName: srrstr.dll
ModVer: 5.1.2600.2180 Offset: 00009826

System restore does not open.
