System Restore error

Since replacing my boot drive with a new larger drive (and copying the files
from old to new with the Seagate installation software) I have been unable to
access System Restore. I should have disabled it before migrating, but
forgot to do so. Here's my error message:

An exception occurred while trying to run
"C:\WINDOWS\system32\shell32.dll,Control_RunDLL
"C:\WINDOWS\sytem32\sysdm.cpl",System"

suggestions, anyone?

Try Reinstalling System Restore :
Go to \Windows\Inf folder
Right click SR.inf and choose Install
Follow the steps.

Ok, I tried reinstalling System Restore as described, all files seemed to
copy, but the end result was "Installation Failed"

Any further suggestions?

Did you tried system Restore in Safe mode and how much Disk Space you have
on your machine?.
I will do a scan for malwares and Viruses First and then proceed with these
steps:
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;299904
1= Run Disk Clean up on your HDD.
2= Open a Run Command and type this:
sfc /scannow click [OK] and get your XP CD handy to insert it in if it
asked you so.
3= If all fails please Back up your Data before doing any step from the
above and then do a system Repair by starting with XP CD and do system Repair
on how to do that read this from here:
http://www.michaelstevenstech.com/XPrepairinstall.htm
HTH.
Please let us know your result.
Regards,
nass
