Problem running System Restore from Control Panel

I get error message:"An exception occurred while trying to run
"C:\Windows\system32\shell32.dll,Control_RunDLL
"C:\Windows\system32\sysdm.cpl",System". Is this a corrupt registry entry?
In any case, how can I fix this to run System Restore?

A different type of error window (something like a system crash window)
saying "We are sorry System Restore had to close due to an unexpected error"
(or something close to that) "Sorry for the inconvenience".

Hi

You'll have to try and re-install System Restore, if you can't access it at
all.

Open Windows Explorer and go to the windows\inf folder. Find a file named
sr.inf, right click on it and select 'Install'.

Thank you Mr. Denny... that worked fine.

I had this same problem and this solution worked great!

When I tried the sr.inf install, it asked me for the XP SP2 disk looking for
sr.sys. It was not on the disk but I did find it in
c:/windows/servicepackfiles/. Then it asked for the XP install disk for
another file.

Thanks for the help.
