excel 2000 crash

when start excel, either by opening existing file or new
file, and then try and enter data into a cell get
message "EXCEL.exe has generated errors and will be closed
by windows. You will need to restart the programme."
Excel then closes. When I try again get same problem. Any
ideas?

You may have some installation erros. Try reinstalling
excel.
