Excel 2007 crashes after refreshing data linked to external source

Multiple users have reported a reproducible issue when using Excel 2007 with
pivot data that are linked externally to a database.

The steps to reproduce the issue are following:
1. Open the excel file and ran refresh.
2. Close the excel documents
3. When prompted to save the file, “No†is clicked
4. Open the same file again without closing excel. Error notification window
appears


Error:

Microsoft Office Excel has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are
sorry for the inconvenience

Event log details:

Office versions affected: MS Office Professional Plus 2007 SP1 and SP2

Steps performed:
-Added My Documents in trusted zone
-Enabled all Data Connections and Automatic update for all Workbook Links
-File in 2007 format


Trust Center Settings

Macro : Enabled All Macros
Data Connections: Enabled data connections
Workbook links: Enabled automatic update for all workbook links
