Excel 2007 Crashes When Opening a File.

It seems more often than not when I try to open an .xlsx file Excel 2007 will
crash and send a error report and then reopen successfully. Here is the
information from Event Viewer on this error:

Event Type: Error
Event Source: Microsoft Office 12
Event Category: None
Event ID: 1000
Date: 9/18/2009
Time: 10:52:29 AM
User: N/A
Description:
Faulting application excel.exe, version 12.0.6504.5001, stamp 49fea693,
faulting module excel.exe, version 12.0.6504.5001, stamp 49fea693, debug? 0,
fault address 0x0022ab4f.

My two office co-workers have not been experiencing this problem but at
least one other person in the building has been having the same issue. Also,
I don't know if it is related but when Excel 2007 does open a file without
crashing it takes a lot longer to open than Excel 2000 did.

Look in Blob>>Excel options add-ins.
look in all the different options from the 'manage' drop down at the
bottom - especially COM add-ins. uncheck any that are checked and try
re-starting Excel

If it is just one or two machines it is almost certainly an add-in that
does not work well with Excel 2007.

The only add-ins checked were in the autocorrect and autocomplete tabs under
Smart Tags. Unchecking them did not resolve the issue.

Try running excel from the run command on the Windows button with these
parameters:
excel.exe /s /automation
That opens it in safe mode with no add-ins or anything. If it is more
reliable like this then there must be some add-in hidden somewhere
causing a problem.

If it still doesn't work then I'd try a detect and repair, if that
doesn't fix it then a reinstall.

That opens Excel just fine but the only time I have this problem is when I
open an existing file. On doing some further monitoring of the issue I have
determined that it only occurs when I open a file that is on a shared drive
on the company server and then only when I open the file using one of the hot
keys on my keyboard that I have programed to open a number of frequently used
workbooks. I can open those files using shortcuts on my desktop or quick
launch bar without issue but when I open them using a hot key is when I have
problems even thought the target adress is the same for both the hot keys and
the shortcuts. So it may not be an Excel issue at all.
