Event ID 7001 - Billions of entries listed, can't stop it?

Event ID 7001 is listed hundreds of times possibly thousands of times
a day.

MS claims it's related to my lexmark printer, but I KILLED that
application and it still gives this Event ID 7001 log entry..

How can I stop this constant Event ID 7001 entry?

It is being logged about every 2-5 seconds, I would think this isn't
good.???

winxp,sp2 system

thanks

Press winkey-break(or start/run 'sysdm.cpl') ,/Hardware tab Open the Device
manager and click the + sign next to Ports(COM & LPT). select the printer
port, e.g. ECP Printer Port (LPT1). Port Settings tab check the 'Enable
legacy Plug and Play detection'

anywhere in that LPT or COM related to the Port Settings..

Bob,

As I recall in an earlier thread you removed or disabled a lot of
services. Then you started getting problems with your hard drive which
you, against advice, linked to the services problem. Now you are
reporting other problems related to services.

You don't say if this is the same machine, but why oh why are you
fiddling with things that you don't understand?

I recommend that you back up your important data, replace the hard disk,
and reinstall the OS. Then don't fiddle with it.

Cheers,

Cliff
