Event ID 7001, 7026

These are the two events ID's that are listed on the computer system event
log. 7026 refers to a list of devices that were not starting. NetBIOS and
TCPIP are a couple that are listed. These devices are part of the NON-PLUG
and PLAY devices in device manager (hidden by default). When the computer is
restarted, it stops and asks you to choose whether to starup using SAFE MODE
etc. I am able to get into SAFE MODE with no problems. However, when
starting in NORMAL MODE, it loads as usual but when it comes to the loading
screen, with WINDOWS XP PROFESSIONAL and the green prgress bar is moving,
about 10 seconds into the startup, it stops and does not continue, and the HD
light goes away. Is this a device issue or is it a OS issue? Thanks.

Right click My Computer, Select properties on the System Properties click on
hardware Tab then click on Device manager.
On Device Manager click on Show all Hidden Devices and expand all the
Devices there to see if there is any malfunctioning or conflicting Devices.
HTH.

You need to examine the Error and Warning Reports in Event Viewer for
the System and the Application logs for when you try to boot in normal
mode. You will have to examine these reports in Safe Mode. Concentrate
on logged events for a normal mode boot. Copy these in a further post.
Full details are important.

When you boot in Safe Mode there is one Report which list drivers not
loaded. This may be helpful also as the list may include the problematic
driver.

Are there any yellow question marks in Device Manager? Right click on
the My Computer icon on your Desktop and select Properties,
Hardware,Device Manager. If yes what is the Device Error code?

Try Start, Run, type "sigverif.exe" without quotes and hit OK. What
drivers are listed as unsigned? Disregard those which are not checked.

Please post copies of all Error and Warning Reports appearing in the
System and Application logs in Event Viewer for the last boot. No
Information Reports please.

You can access Event Viewer by selecting Start, Control Panel,
Administrative Tools, and Event Viewer. When researching the meaning
of the error, information regarding Event ID, Source and Description
are important.

HOW TO: View and Manage Event Logs in Event Viewer in Windows XP
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/308427/en-us

Part of the Description of the error will include a link, which you
should double click for further information. You can copy using copy
and paste. Often the link will, however, say there is no further
information.

A tip for posting copies of Error Reports! Run Event Viewer and double
click on the error you want to copy. In the window, which appears is a
button resembling two pages. Click the button and close Event
Viewer. Now start your message (email) and do a paste into the body of
the message. Make sure this is the first paste after exiting from
Event Viewer.

Hope this helps.
