I have an Asus A8n-VM CSM motherboard running WINDOWS XP home SP2. My ethernet port worked months ago, however i switched to a wireless connection and did not use it for a long time. Now i need to use it again and i cannot get it to work. It gets a registered IP with my router (192.168.1.103) and the router recognizes it. It even sends and receives packets, however i cannot acess the interent of the router configuration utility. I have tried reinstalling drivers, and tweaking network settings in every way i can think including puting it as the first acessed protocol by programs. I also tried just directly connecting to my modem and also got an IP adress, but the same thing happened. A usb-ethernet port works on windows too, but it is slow and my mainboard would be prefered. Now booting a version of LINUX live, the ethernet port works fine on that OS. So i know this is a software issue in Microsoft, not a piece of dead hardware. Any suggestions other than reinstalling windows?
