Whenever I click on anything that uses Internet Explorer, my computer shuts
down because of an error that occurs. It told me that the error was with a
file: vdnt32.sys PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA

Whenever I run my virus scan or an adware scan, my computer restarts also so
I cannot find out if it is a virus.

I would appreciate any comments about what may be wrong.

vdnt32.sys looks like a trojan
http://www.sophos.com/virusinfo/analyses/trojhaxdooro.html
http://securityresponse.symantec.com/avcenter/venc/data/backdoor.haxdoor.c.html

Also installs a service / filter driver:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\vdnt32

Slave the drive to another working XP system, then load the registry hive using this method:
http://www.dougknox.com/xp/tips/xp_adv_reg_editing.htm
(In step 4, load the SOFTWARE hive (rather than the NTUSER.DAT)

Remove the malware as adviced in the Symantec article, and then delete the .sys file.

I would say you have the blaster worm you best bet is to save all the data
you have and put the xp cd in you rom (if you own xp) and do a repair install
..you do this by hitting enter the first time if gives you a choice of using
the recovery console.Don't hit the "R" key yet let it find windows again and
install in in the same directory then it will give you a choice to hit "R"
for a repair install then it will run it's course no data will be lost only
some updates you had all the programs and files you have should be in tact.
It will take a while but it does work I've been there and done that.
