JEANIE ASHE

I recently went from dial up to DSL, and once the installation process was complete I noticed I was getting all kinds of Internet Explore errors and getting kicked off. Can some one help, I was told that I need a system check and scan, and a repair program, however I am not sure which one's are good and what will not give me a virus. Please help!!!

Hello Jeanie,

Can you provide the specific "errors" you get from Internet Explorer? If you see error code numbers, please provide those with text displayed.

Now then, who advised about a scan or repair program? I hope it was not from a popup window in the browser while you were on the net.
Please do not download any "repair" or "fix" programs from the net without checking or getting recommendations that they are legit.

Right Click the My Computer icon on desktop. Select Properties.
Next, select Advanced. Look for a block that says Startup and recovery. Press the settings button.

In System failure section, turn off (un-check) Automatically restart.

Write an event to system log should be Checked (selected).

More on program crashes:
See what Event Viewer has in it's log. Select Start button/ select Run , then type in

eventvwr.msc<enter>

-- or Go to Control Panel / Performance and Maintenance/Administrative Tools >Event Viewer.

Review the sections and look for Errors or Warnings that match the time the event occurred.
Double click---the information "may" give a clue.
