error= system standby failed

HAB in AZ

I have a new Dell system, XP Home. It is set to standby
after certain time. Was doing this fine for days but now
I get an error msg. Sytem Standby failed- device driver
on communications port (COM1) will not allow standby.
Driver is fine. No update for it. Says it is functioning
fine. Do not even know what, if anything, is attached to
COM1. Any idea why this has occured?
Knowledge article 197477 about this refers to Windows
2000. But even then, it does not solve this prob.
Thanks.

Hi,

To resolve the issue, disable Background Download Manager:

1. Open Quicken.
2. From the Edit menu, select Internet Options.
3. In the Connections tab, select Don't use background
downloading.
4. Press the ALT key, the SHIFT key, and the number 4 key
(Alt+Shift+4) on the keyboard at the same time.
5. Click Yes to the message asking if you want to disable
background downloading.
6. Close Quicken and restart the computer.

If the problem persists, I recommend you disable the
Mrtrate.sys driver. To do this, follow these steps:

1) Click Start, right-click My Computer, and then click
Properties.
2) Click the Hardware tab, and then click Device Manager.
3) On the View menu, click Show hidden devices.
4) Expand Non-Plug and Play Drivers, and then locate the
Mrtrate driver.
5) Right-click Mrtrate, and then click Properties.
6) Click the Driver tab, and then click Stop under Current
Status.
7) Under Startup, in the Type box, click to select
Disabled, and then click OK.
8) Quit Device Manager.

This should resolve the problem.

Thanks,
