Error Stop Code: 0000008E

[RBCC]

I am using VMWare Desktop and installing (Testing) Windows XP on it. It
has 284 Megs of Ram and a 10 gig Hard disk. During install I get this
error message:

Stop:0x0000008E(0xc0000005,0xBF803E1A,0XF9B8FC94,0X00000000)
Win2k.sys Address BF803E1A,Base at BF800000,Date Stamp 41107F7A

What does this mean and how can recitify it?

I had the very same problem recently and i managed to track the problem to
my CD ROM drive. i used another drive and windows installed fine.
