error number 0x800CCC0D....cant send emails

Yes it does not resolve, but SMTP etc does resolve to a BSkyB server.

The smpt part of the host name is unlikely to be correct. Try changing
it to smtp instead.

If that doesn't work, see here:

http://www.sky.com/Assets/PDF/StaticFiles/720010.pdf

If you can't read .pdf files, download and install Adobe Reader:

http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/readstep2.html

Don't install the Google Toolbar program unless you want more
problems in Windows Mail. Web sites that let you do a Google
search are not a problem.

Secondly, if AVG is installed using the default install, its mail
checking
module can cause problems. Uninstall AVG, then reinstall, choosing
custom install, which then allows you to deselect installation of the
mail

After you have done both of the above, delete that mail account, then
restart Windows Mail and recreate the account. If you still get an
error message, right-click on it, copy, then paste it into a reply here.

The second error happens when a given account is checked

that you set the mail check interval for 5 minutes or more.

The first error is more difficult to assess, partly because you did

It probably said something like the connection to the server was
lost or timed out. That can happen when using a non-compatible
antivirus program. Which one are you using? As a minimum, mail
scanning in the antivirus must be disabled.

I am having the same trouble. Can anyone help? I was online with
tech
support for AT & T for 2 hours and that led me to no where. The
error
message i am getting is as follows:

First Error Message
Account: 'mail.bellsouth.net (1)', Server: 'mail.bellsouth.net',
Protocol:
POP3, Port: 110, Secure(SSL): No, Error Number: 0x800CCC19

Second Error Message

Account: 'mail.bellsouth.net (2)', Server: 'mail.bellsouth.net',
Protocol:
POP3, Server Response: '-ERR [IN-USE] account busy (locked by
another POP3
process)', Port: 110, Secure(SSL): No, Server Error: 0x800CCC90,
Error
Number: 0x800CCC92

I'm having similar problems, same error messages as above except I'm
on sky (smpt.tools.sky.com) using port 465 for out going
mail (as recommended by sky). What I can't understand is why my E-mail
worked fine with the trial version of Outlook Express
but not on Windows Mail. I have completely uninstalled my Norton
anti-virus software and am using AVG. I have also tried some
of the fix programmes with no success. It's driving me round the
bennnnnnnnnd.

Several responders including myself answered your prior post of June 17.

The reason you are getting that error is because you have a typo in the
outgoing (SMTP) server name. Change smpt.tools.sky.com to
smtp.tools.sky.com.

You're in someone else's thread, so I'm not sure if you're asking, or
trying to help.

If you are asking, I can tell you that POP3 is /not/ your server name.
Contact your ISP for the correct account settings.

Please start your own new thread in the future. Thank you.

Bruce Hagen

Why do you keep replying to the OP instead of starting your own new
thread?

Now you have a different error message and your server is not SMTP. Once
again. Contact your ISP and get the correct settings from them.

Please do not hijack threads in the future. Thank you.

G

Gary VanderMolen \(MVP\)

"SMTP" is not a valid mail server name. You get the correct mail
server names from your mail provider.
Do you have an existing email address? If so, what is the part of
your email address after the @ symbol? That part represents your
mail service provider.
Your mail provider will typically have a web page that shows how to
set up an email program. If you need more help, tell us the name of
your email service provider. If you currently don't have an email
address, we can help with that also.
